Notes:

  • This was a collection of six short stories, all of which are good, and some are great.
  • The stories all have at least a tinge of the apocalypse. The first two are very much set in a post-apocalyptic world, and the other ones are climate-change or civilisational-breakdown flavoured.
  • Some of the stories attempt to engage with writing cliches. As Good As New deals with genies and their loopholes with wishes, and what would happen if someone tried very hard but also sincerely to get past those. Six Months, Three Days talks about what happens when two clairvoyants, of different types, meet. And Intestate takes the Terry Pratchett joke about Igors inheriting other Igors, and makes an American family drama out of it.
  • I recommend this highly.
