Notes:

  • After two books in the series which were more philosophical excursions than traditional murder mysteries, this was a return to basics, and quite enjoyable.
  • But what does annoy me is that both the books so far which are through-and-through mysteries have as their villains, the children of villains from the original ACD books. That seems so lazy in this day and age.
  • Also interesting – though there is a murder to begin with, for most of the first half of the book, it feels less as though the murder is being investigated, and more as though the ghostly carriage is. That is kind of Nancy Drew.
  • Or the Scooby Doo episodes. My god, I just realised, every episode of Scooby Doo is a Hound of the Baskervilles clone.
